
William M. Glazer, M.D., President and Founder, GMS
Dr Glazer is a clinician, researcher, lecturer and consultant who has been involved with quality of care concerns since he began on the faculty of Yale University Department of Psychiatry in 1978. Dr Glazer has published hundreds of papers, chapters and videotapes and he lectures nationally on themes related to severe and persistent psychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia and depression, psychopharmacology, managed care, decision support, practice guidelines and the medical cost offset effect. Since 1988, Dr Glazer has consulted to managers, purchasers, providers and beneficiaries of psychiatric managed care services. He is a developer of psychiatric utilization review and decision-support tools, and he has co-authored a guidebook for benefits managers who purchase and manage mental health benefits. He has been affiliated with the medical staffs of several hospitals, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital and Connecticut Valley State Hospital. He is a Contributing Editor to the "Best Practices" Column in the Journal of Psychiatric Services and has been selected as a member of "Best Doctors in America" and "Who's Who in America".
