
Dr. Glazer is the President of Glazer Medical Solutions in Key West, FL and Menemsha, MA. He is a clinician, researcher, lecturer and consultant and has been involved with continuing medical education since he began on the faculty of the Departments of Psychiatry first at Yale University (1978-1994) then at Harvard University (1994-2006). His research and teaching has generated the publication of hundreds of papers, chapters and multimedia educational materials.
Dr Glazer brings a broad experience and a unique perspective to 21st century healthcare.
He has lectured nationally for over 25 years on themes related to the diagnosis, treatment and management of severe and persistent psychiatric illnesses. He is a recognized expert in the areas of schizophrenia, tardive dyskinesia, managed care, and psychopharmacology. At Yale, he was the Principle Investigator of a 7-year NIMH grant that studied the epidemiology of tardive dyskinesia.
From 1988 to 1996, Dr Glazer led the utilization review team at Aetna's Focused Psychiatric Review Program, in Hartford, CT, where he developed national criteria for inpatient level psychiatric care. During the same time period, at Yale, he assumed administrative responsibility for the medical staff at the Connecticut Mental Health Center's development of a quality assurance program in compliance with federal regulatory guidelines. In 1993 he co-authored a book for benefits managers, EAP professionals and claims analysts - "A Purchaser's Guide to Mental Health Benefits".
Over the last 25 years, Dr Glazer has worked with accredited medical education and production companies to produce and disseminate continuing medical education (printed) materials, large and small educational meetings and communications via live, satellite, internet, dvd/video and print platforms. From 1994 to 2006 he was the moderator and Executive Producer of PsychLINK, a nationally broadcasted CME program for mental health and primary care professionals.
Dr Glazer is a Contributing Editor to the "Best Practices" Column in the Journal of Psychiatric Services and has been selected as a member of "Best Doctors in America" and "Who's Who in America".
